Why do you write poetry? – Matt Hetherington

I asked a bunch of poets the above question. I’ll post their answers until I run out or get distracted…

Matt Hetherington says:

“because if i DON’T, i feel WRONG.  dirty, restless, irritable.  it’s like cleaning the windows [or other household tasks].

i also write because i need to PLAY.  if i don’t play, i feel like an old old man.  the arts are where grown-ups get to be children again.  or at least adolescents…”

Stay tuned for more answers, or submit your own to the email address over there in the right hand margin. Yeah, there. That one there. See it?
